new manifold

Friday, January 23rd, 2015

The engine is a inboard Albin o21, gasoline driven and sea water cooled, from 1968, its the original from when the boat was constituted. Its a bit grumpy but seems to work fine. The manifold was quite worn out, but I got a new one when baying the boat. After I got it welded (it needed a bit of repair, and it turned out to be harder then expected, because welding in cast iron is apparently tricky) I painted it in a heat resistant colour that looks like green metallic nail polish, so cool.

Soon I will try to replace the old one and hopefully I will not destroy something in the process.

oiling the tiller

Monday, January 12th, 2015

there is some wood details on the boat, even if they are few. some of the I change to metal or plastic, but some even I will keep, like the tiller. I took  it indoors because the boat is covered whit snow by now. after grinding it with sandpaper and oiling it whit four layers it got this nice dark colour, and will hopefully resist salty waters and not rot.
